Let’s be honest.

Nobody joins Dri­ver Com­mu­ni­ty because we’re experts in ecol­o­gy, inter­na­tion­al devel­op­ment, or med­ical research.

Peo­ple join because they love cars. Dri­ving. Great roads. Track days. And those con­ver­sa­tions in a park­ing lot that were sup­posed to last ten min­utes but some­how turn into ninety.

At the same time, we believe that pas­sion comes with responsibility.

That’s why we’re cur­rent­ly work­ing on a Sus­tain­abil­i­ty Char­ter for Dri­ver Com­mu­ni­ty. Not as a doc­u­ment that’s for­got­ten in a fold­er some­where, but as a com­mit­ment we intend to turn into real action.

Our char­ter is built around three key pillars.

Tak­ing respon­si­bil­i­ty for our envi­ron­men­tal impact

Cars pro­duce emis­sions. There’s no point pre­tend­ing otherwise.

That does­n’t mean we have to aban­don our pas­sion. It means we should acknowl­edge its impact and do our part.

We’re explor­ing ways to com­pen­sate the CO₂ emis­sions of our fleet by sup­port­ing nature restora­tion and sus­tain­able inno­va­tion projects with mea­sur­able results.

In oth­er words: keep enjoy­ing the dri­ve, while giv­ing some­thing back along the way.

Equal oppor­tu­ni­ties for every child

Grow­ing up in Bel­gium pro­vides oppor­tu­ni­ties that mil­lions of chil­dren around the world sad­ly don’t have.

Access to edu­ca­tion, health­care and suf­fi­cient food should not depend on where a child hap­pens to be born.

That’s why we want to sup­port organ­i­sa­tions that help cre­ate those oppor­tu­ni­ties, with a par­tic­u­lar focus on small-scale ini­tia­tives where impact is vis­i­ble, trans­par­ent and measurable.

Because even a mod­est con­tri­bu­tion can make a life-chang­ing difference.

Acces­si­ble health­care for everyone

We believe health­care is a fun­da­men­tal human right.

Dri­ver Com­mu­ni­ty wants to sup­port ini­tia­tives that pro­mote open sci­ence, col­lab­o­ra­tion, trans­paren­cy and afford­able access to medicines.

Knowl­edge has the great­est val­ue when it is shared, espe­cial­ly when bet­ter health and bet­ter lives are the outcome.

Over the com­ing months, we’ll fur­ther devel­op these three pil­lars and iden­ti­fy the projects, organ­i­sa­tions and part­ners that best align with our vision.

As soon as things become more con­crete, we’ll share the details with our mem­bers and followers.

Dri­ver Com­mu­ni­ty will always be a com­mu­ni­ty built around a love for cars.

But if that same com­mu­ni­ty can also make a pos­i­tive con­tri­bu­tion to soci­ety, then that’s a jour­ney worth taking.
